Shock Wave Therapy
This type of therapy is used by the Physical Therapists and it is a non-invasive therapy. Shockwave consist of 2 types the Radial and Focused Shockwave. The main idea of Shock-wave Therapy is the use of controlled explosions that will create a sonic pulse (same as the ones which are created by airplanes when they break the sound barrier).
This sonic pulse will damage the patient’s tissues which will create an inflammation; now the brain will try to heal that new inflammation which is at the same site of the old one thus healing both areas. Another theory is that the Shock-wave will break the small capillaries and create new blood flow in the area, the newly formed blood flow will promote healing in the area.
